Sorry I can't join your Slack

Hi,

It is Chris Malek. You are reading this because you tried to invite me to your Slack or MS Teams.

Let me begin with a few smileys so the tone below is not misinterpreted 😀 😀 😀.

Please accept my apologies. I cannot join your Slack or MS Teams. I love new technology. However, I already have too many input channels.

I consult with many concurrent projects across clients. Each project has its own:

  • Basecamp
  • Asana
  • Monday
  • ClickUp
  • Breeze
  • Jira
  • Redmine
  • Google Docs
  • distribution lists
  • Slack
  • Teams
  • Trello
  • and many other apps (I wish I were kidding).

I also have several different email addresses for clients.

I’m drowning in notifications and can barely keep up with my current channels. Every new channel weakens my ability to concentrate and focus. My ability to focus and produce results for clients is my product. I have found through my career that chat apps are distracting and a focus killer for me personally.

I am happy to engage with the following channels: Zoom, email, or Google Documents.

I appreciate your understanding. I make it easy to schedule a meeting with me using Calendly link that is in my email signature.
